About Us
At SHEANEY, social value is a practical commitment to the communities where we live and work. We believe in bridging the gap between academic theory and real-world site execution, helping young professionals gain the hands-on proof-of-work they need to launch successful careers in civil engineering and construction.
ICE Mentorship & Industry Support
Helping graduates prove real-world delivery capability
The Challenge: A self-initiated, graduate-led design-build project created to prove real-world project management, commercial coordination, and physical delivery capability under strict real-site constraints.
The Execution: Over a 9-month programme, a team of emerging graduates planned, costed, and built a full-scale, freestanding timber pavilion at Belfast MakerSpace — executing the final physical build within a tight 48-hour continuous window with zero site damage or safety incidents.
Our Contribution: Together with Queen’s University Belfast (QUB), Belfast Furniture, Threads, and Henessey Joinery, SHEANEY provided crucial funding, industry mentorship, and practical guidance across procurement, risk management, and safe site sequencing, enabling the graduate team to execute their build to professional standards.
The Impact: The project successfully demonstrated professional competency in pre-construction planning, value engineering, and site health and safety, directly accelerating the confidence and employability of the graduates involved.
Empowered emerging graduates to lead a live project end to end.
Developed practical skills across design, planning, and site delivery.
Strengthened the connection between education and industry.
Created a collaborative learning experience for emerging professionals.
Delivered a temporary pavilion with lasting educational value.
SHEANEY made it possible to take an ambitious idea and turn it into real proof of execution. Their support and practical mentorship didn’t just help us build a structure — it gave us the hands-on confidence and site readiness to step directly into professional roles.
