Project Overview

The Gullwing Bridge required highly precise marine foundation works, involving complex piling operations in sensitive tidal conditions. SHEANEY was brought in to provide dedicated on-site project management, ensuring the marine civil engineering phases were executed safely and to exact structural tolerances.

Our Delivery

Operating directly on-site, we developed and implemented the methodology for all marine works. We coordinated specialist subcontractors and managed a 400-tonne jack-up barge to safely execute the auger-push installation of 14 large-diameter piles near protected UKPN assets, alongside the rotary bored installation of 42 pier foundation piles concreted under polymer.

Key Achievements

  • Successfully managed the positioning and operation of heavy marine plant alongside an active navigational channel.
  • Maintained continuous, transparent communication with the ABP Harbour Master to ensure safe passage and waterway operations.
  • Designed and implemented a strict vibration monitoring plan with designated trigger points to protect surrounding assets, delivering the foundation works with zero structural defects.
