Strangford & Portaferry Slipway Refurbishment

We managed the fast-track refurbishment of dual coastal slipways. Operating within tight tidal windows, we coordinated environmental planning, utilities diversions, and temporary works design while keeping live cross-border ferry services running smoothly.

Project Overview

The Strangford and Portaferry slipways are vital arteries for Northern Ireland's transport network. Upgrading these assets required high-precision marine infrastructure works executed within very narrow tidal windows, all without halting the daily ferry schedules.

Our Delivery

SHEANEY delivered full, in-house project management, handling everything from initial surveying and drawing pack updates to direct supervision of the physical marine works. We identified site constraints early, managed complex utility diversions, and carefully coordinated traffic management to protect the public.

Key Achievements

  • Successfully executed major structural upgrades while live ferry operations continued unabated.
  • Managed all environmental planning and coordination with harbour authorities in a highly sensitive coastal location.
  • Kept all planning, surveying, and temporary works design coordination in-house to guarantee rapid response times and uninterrupted progress.
